Dispute over coins lands ex-boyfriend in jail

CRESTVIEW, FL — An ex-boyfriend was arrested on misdemeanor battery charges following an argument that started over 50 cents.

Crestview police were called to a physical altercation in the 500 block of West Beach Avenue on March 25. Upon arriving, lawmen learned the altercation started as the ex-boyfriend was moving out of his former girlfriend’s home.

According to the arrest report, the woman asked her former boyfriend about location of some coins that belonged to her son and that she wanted them back before he moved out. Her ex responded by telling her he did not know where the coins were and placed her in a headlock and threw her to the ground.

After police arrived, the man stated at one time he did have the 50 cents, but he did not know who took it. He added that his ex was just upset because they had broken up.

The girl did have dirt on the back of her T-shirt, and lawmen arrested the man on one misdemeanor domestic violence battery charge.
