Mars Lander can't get hard space dirt into oven.

But seriously. They are having trouble getting the dirt through the screen and into the oven.
One option is to use the lander's robotic arm to grind up the dirt, but first they are going to try and shake the oven.
NASA is so tech savvy! Wow!
The reason to heat the dirt is to look for things that look like life. Not fossils, the lander cannot detect that...but chemicals.
NASA is pleased, however, that THIS is the problem they are coming across. They were concerned about not being able to gather enough soil. Clearly, their problem is quite the opposite.
